Landholders

The landholders in our operational areas typically have a long history of working their properties, sometimes spanning generations.

Their agricultural activities range from grazing to intensive cropping. WestSide’s goal has been to work constructively and proactively with landholders to minimise the impact on their livelihood and lifestyle.

For example, well sites are selected in consultation with the landowner. Access routes are also planned to minimise disruption to the local agricultural operations, and in many cases, improve the infrastructure available for use by the landowner.

WestSide continues to conduct its operations with a view to maintaining a long and collaborative relationship with landowners and this commitment will be reflected as WestSide moves to increase production from the Meridian SeamGas CSG fields through the addition of new wells.

Meridian, Australia’s first producing CSG gasfield, was established in the late 1990’s so surrounding landholders have had an opportunity to gain a great deal of experience operating alongside the industry.

The Queensland Government's Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) has committed to producing a series of information Vodcasts on the Coal Seam Gas industry.

These Vodcasts are designed to provide landholders and other stakeholders with accurate, up to date information on issues of community concern including fraccing, protection of the Great Artesian Basin, environmental laws and compliance and landholder rights.
