About the project
The five-well Paranui CSG pilot is located 10km south of Moura and just 5km to the west of the producing Meridian SeamGas CSG fields which WestSide operates.
In this part of the tenement the target Baralaba Coal Measures lie at a depth of between 550 metres and 950 metres and generally contain 21m to 25m of gas-bearing coal in up to 14 seams.
Pilot production testing is underway with initial certification of 135 PJ of 3P gas reserves achieved in June 2009. WestSide's share has reduced to 69 PJ as a result of Mitsui's farmin to 24.5%. It is estimated that the remainder of the ATP769P tenement could contain up to a further 183 billion cubic feet (WestSide share) of gas in place to a depth of 1,000m.
The Paranui pilot comprises three appraisal wells (Paranui #5R, #6R and #8), two observer wells (Paranui #4 and Paranui #7) and one core well (Paranui #10).
Paranui #11, #12 and #13 have been completed with pumps for an extended production test which commenced in late 2010 prior to suspension due to the protracted wet season .
The performance of these cavitated vertical wells will be compared to the results from the existing three Paranui pilot wells which were subjected to fracture stimulation treatments.
